Carolin's New Hobby

The lovely summer of 2004 came to an abrupt end when Carolin was diagnosed with cancer. What follows are the random thoughts and experiences of the Camerons as Carolin fights back.

Not news

The faithful readers of this blog may be curious of the latest developments. With one exception they are all bad. The details would sadden everyone and would tell you more about the disease than it does about Carolin, so I'll be light on specifics.

Carolin has lost a lot of mobility and must sleep a lot, but she still plans her day (and everyone elses) with a daytimer that she has much trouble reading. She is more willing to let others help now and we have many friends looking after her. It continues to amaze me how she won't quit. I know it is a cliche but she refuses to complain about her many serious aches and pains. She gets out of bed each day and starts returning phone calls and scheduling outings. She refuses to be overwhelmed by her problem.

If Carolin was to be given an award - it would be for:
    BRAVERY
    BEING A TROOPER
    THE MOST POISITIVE PERSON EVER
    AMAZING WOMAN
    HAVING SO MUCH TENACITY
    BEING A FIGHTER
    A PILLAR OF STRENGTH
    DETERMINED IN EVERYTHING
AND TO ALL OF US OUR HERO

MY LOVE - MY THOUGHTS AND PRAYERS ARE WITH YOU CAROLIN, SANDY AND JESSICA.

I'm sorry to hear things are getting worse, but I am glad Carolin's determination and her never failing organization skills are not. As with all the other faithful friends and blog readers, please know how much everyone cares.

Carolin, I used to think heroes were easy to recognize by their fancey titles or shiney medals. I used to believe they were always the people in newspaper headlines and history books. Over the last couple of years I have come to realize that there are everyday heroes all around us who quietly lend a gentle hand, a listening ear, a healing touch. Most of all Carolin, I want you to know that you are my heroe and that I will forever strive to live my life with the quiet dignity, unwavering strength and extraordinary heart that you have shown me for many years. Thank you for touching my life, you are amazing!

Rob and I knew Carolin had to be special when you married her. No matter how far the miles or how infrequent the visits, you remain the most treasured friend. You truly are the best.
    Love,

Sometimes when I pray and ask for answers to difficulties that I or someone I care for may be having, so often your face comes to mind - you are one that exemplifies faith, love, determination. I know now you have been such an inspiration to me and I give thanks for you. Sandy, please know you are in my prayers as you face this uncertain time. Jan WE2EBC

What an amazing family you all are. You truly are an inspiration to everyone and if only you could put your stamina in a bottle and sell it you would make a million. Our prayers are with you knowing that our Heavenly Father is watching over you and providing for you those friends, family and strength that you need to pass through this extremely difficult time. We are trying to stay out of you way because we know you have many close friends helping you but please remember that we are just across the street and are ready to assist in any way needed.

    Hugs, Cheryl K
